The latest 747 cargo airplane is the 747-400 ERF... (ERF= Enhanced Range Freighter) This airplane has a max takeoff weight of 932,000 lbs. That is 466 tons!!! However, because the 747-400ERF is heavy even when its empty, the actual cargo that can be carried is 133 tons... This is an increase of 11 tons over the previous model...How much weight can a cargo 747 jet carry?
The 747-400 Freighter versions can carry in excess of 100 tons
