How much does a cargo ship cost?

How much would it cost me to buy a cargo ship if I ever wanted to get into the shipping business, say, a medium size freighter capable of trans-oceanic routes. How much does a cargo ship cost?
Of course it depends on the condition and make but you would be looking at spending tens of millions to potentially hundreds of millions of dollars. Not something most people have laying around in the change jar.How much does a cargo ship cost?
$15 - 20 million for a new medium size container ship. Shipping companies usually charter their ships for about $20k per day plus fuel (300 tons/day). If you can generate about $60k per day of revenue, good luck with your business.
You don't have to buy one you can do a ';bareboat charter'; for a determined length of time per contract and the ship is essentially yours; you can ever rename her.

The cost of the vessel is one thing but the expenses to run her and pay port charges are unbelievable.
